Poem Portraits
Capture your middle schooler...or high schooler...exactly as they are right now. Alongside their portraits, students write about their life in this moment: what they love, what they’re thinking about, the people who matter most. And every word is in their own handwriting.
Eighth grade tends to be the sweet spot for this project, but it works beautifully at other ages too. These “poems” don’t need to rhyme or follow any rules. They can be short or long, serious or funny...whatever feels most like them.
Over time, these pieces become more meaningful than anyone expects. Parents often say they’re the first thing they’d grab in an emergency...and the item they’re most grateful to have years later.
These handwritten words have a way of growing in value as the years pass, capturing a voice, a perspective, a version of your child that disappears faster than you realize.
This project can be arranged in partnership with schools, clubs, churches, and other organizations...either on location or at my studio. Please contact me for more information.
