ABOUT JEN

Hey there, so glad you're here! Seeing the beauty and uniqueness in every person is what really drives me in photography, and I'm lucky enough to do it every day. Being trusted to capture you at this moment in time is an honor and a true responsibility...and it deserves to be done well.

I've been in business since 2007, and I'm still just as excited for every session. I arrive at every shoot with new ideas and energy and will work with you to make sure your session all that you are hoping for (and ideally, even better than you imagined).

Outside the studio, I'm a mom to four grown kids and have absolutely loved every stage of that journey. These days, you'll usually find me hanging out with them...or pet-sitting for my "grand-pets", Luna, Gabby, Cilantro, Basil and Ricky. (2 dogs, 3 cats). As a lifelong Oregonian, I grew up in a small farm town near Salem and have spent my adult life in the Portland area. It's a dream to live in such a special, gorgeous part of the world.

I'm a sucker for a stunning view, wine tasting, concerts, travel, and...photography, of course. Can't wait to meet you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do we do if it rains?

You know it and I know it...it's Portland...there will be rain! I intentionally leave room in my schedule for weather-related reschedules, and whenever possible, we'll wait until just a couple of hours prior to make the call. Weather here can change so quickly.

If the shoot needs to happen regardless of conditions, we have options. I know several locations that photograph beautifully and you can stay dry even in the rain. We can move the session to my studio, or we can lean in and embrace a truly authentic Oregon-style photoshoot...rain and all.

What should I bring to my session?

Plan to bring 3–5 outfits, plus a couple of extra options if you like. We usually have time to photograph 3-4 looks, and I’ll help you narrow down what works best.

Accessories and layers can make your outfit! Bring a tote bag to carry shoes, jeans, and accessories so you can change easily on the go. Anything that wrinkles should arrive on a hanger.

Most importantly, make sure everything is photo-ready: clean, well-fitted, and pressed.

Where will I change?

I have a portable changing tent that can be set up just about anywhere, I've got you!

How long does a session take?
If you’ve scheduled a Mini Session, it takes about 20 minutes. Regular sessions average around 2 hours. Some simpler sessions are as quick as an hour, especially if photoshoots are maybe not your most favorite thing, while others have fun exploring multiple locations, wearing lots of different outfits and we shoot as long as there's enough light to do so. Just to be safe, plan for up to 3 hours in your schedule. I take my cue from you, I can be quick and efficient or shoot for hours and still not finish my list. I'm happy if you're happy!
Should my parents be there? My friend?
Usually a parent comes along—it’s a really fun experience, and as a parent myself, I’d hate to miss it. And actually, your senior session can be a great time to get a quick family picture update! You're about to leave the nest, it's only going to be harder to arrange family photos going forward! I can do it quickly, just take 10-15 minutes at the beginning to get it done, and then whoever doesn't really want to stay for the whole session can take off. You’re also welcome to bring a friend if that helps you feel more comfortable—just let me know. My assistant is always available to help carry bags and keep things running smoothly.
Ack, my skin is breaking out!

No worries at all...blemish removal is part of my process in post-production. No reason for something temporary to be on your wall forever. My policy is to leave permanent things like scars and freckles, but if you want them gone, it can be done, just let me know.

What should I bring to my session?
Plan to bring 3–5 outfits, plus a couple of extra options if you have them. We usually have time to photograph about four looks, and I’ll help you narrow down what works best. Shoes aren’t a big deal—I typically only photograph one full-length image per outfit. Accessories, on the other hand, matter! Bring a tote bag to carry shoes, jeans, and accessories so you can change easily on the go. Anything that wrinkles should arrive on a hanger. Most importantly, make sure everything is photo-ready: clean, well-fitted, and pressed.
Do you have hair/makeup artist recommendations?

Yes! I know some really talented makeup and hair artists as well as clothing stylists. Let me know if you'd like their names and I'll get that to you asap.

I wear glasses.
Glasses are often no problem, especially if they have anti-glare coating. I have lots of techniques to avoid reflections in glasses, and if that's not enough, I'm a whiz at Photoshop.
How far in advance should I book?
During my busy season (July–November), it’s best to book 4–6 weeks in advance. Other times of the year tend to be more flexible.
I have more questions.
Absolutely, I'm here to help! My number is 503-709-0030 and I'm quickest via text. Email is great too: jmahoney72@comcast.net
